چکیده
PurposeProperly planned single isocenter volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) radiosurgery plans exhibit high quality and efficiency. We report here the largest clinical experience to date, our knowledge, comparing manual planning with a new automated platform designed standardize simplify delivery processes.MethodsWe treated 693 patients VMAT radiosurgical generated by either conventional (mVMAT) or recently implemented (HyperArcTM) technique. All targeted gross tumor volume without margin. Radiochromic film was used for patient-specific assurance (PSQA). evaluated local control toxicity data subgroup of 107 having 377 metastatic tumors that were HyperArc.ResultsThe median Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) conformity index 1.14 not different between 2 techniques. The Paddick gradient 5.42 HyperArc versus 7.09 mVMAT (P < .001). mean brain doses 4.6% 5.1% mVMAT, respectively = .04). PSQA both techniques met criteria, but 97% satisfied gamma tolerance limit recommended American Association Physicists in Medicine Task No. 218, compared 94% .02). treatment-planning times significantly different. treatment 10.5 11.4 minutes Kaplan-Meier estimate 90.1% at 1 year.ConclusionsHyperArc produces high-quality are least as good created an expert planner easier more efficient workflow. A less experienced can produce very even than 10 targets. use single-isocenter technique multiple targets no PTV margin did compromise outcomes, 1-year remained congruent historical series.

Comparison of volumetric‐modulated arc therapy and dynamic conformal arc treatment planning for cranial stereotactic radiosurgery
The aim was to analyze arc therapy techniques according to the number and position of the brain lesions reported by comparing dynamic noncoplanar conformal arcs (DCA), two coplanar full arcs (RAC) with volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT), multiple noncoplanar partial arcs with VMAT (RANC), and two full arcs with VMAT and 10° table rotation (RAT). Patients with a single lesion (n= 10), multi...
متن کاملVolumetric-modulated Arc Therapy Lung Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy Dosimetric Quality Assurance: A Comparison between Radiochromic Film and Chamber Array
INTRODUCTION The aim of this work is to verify the use of radiochromic film in the quality assurance (QA) of volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) lung stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) plans and compare the results with those obtained using an ion chamber array. MATERIALS AND METHODS QA was performed for 14 plans using a two-dimensional-array seven29 and EBT3 film. Dose values per...
متن کاملClinical experience with planning, quality assurance, and delivery of burst‐mode modulated arc therapy
"Burst-mode" modulated arc therapy (hereafter referred to as "mARC") is a form of volumetric-modulated arc therapy characterized by variable gantry rotation speed, static MLCs while the radiation beam is on, and MLC repositioning while the beam is off. We present our clinical experience with the planning techniques and plan quality assurance measurements of mARC delivery. Clinical mARC plans fo...
متن کاملVolumetric intensity modulated arc therapy for stereotactic body radiosurgery in oligometastatic breast and gynecological cancers: feasibility and clinical results.
In the present study, the preliminary results of the first stereotactic body radiosurgery (SRS) experience with volumetric intensity modulated arc therapy (VMAT) in oligometastatic breast and recurrent gynecological tumors (OBRGT) are reported in terms of feasibility, toxicity and efficacy. Patients were treated in a head-first supine treatment position on a customized body frame immobilization...
متن کاملDosimetric validation and clinical implementation of two 3D dose verification systems for quality assurance in volumetric‐modulated arc therapy techniques
A pretreatment quality assurance program for volumetric techniques should include redundant calculations and measurement-based verifications. The patient-specific quality assurance process must be based in clinically relevant metrics. The aim of this study was to show the commission, clinical implementation, and comparison of two systems that allow performing a 3D redundant dose calculation. In...
